Do you enjoy reading God’s word to your kids? I miss the days when my kids wanted to curl up in my lap and listen as I read to them. Looking back, I wish I had spent more time doing it. They grow up so fast. Now that my kids are older they no longer want to curl up in my lap for me to read to them.

(Sometimes they don’t even want to sit next to me anymore. Ha!)

If you do have small children in your life, whether they are yours or not, it’s important to pour God’s word into them as much as possible while they are young.

How do we find the time to do this with our crazy busy schedules you ask?

By starting small. Don’t think you have to read an entire chapter. One verse can go a long way.

That’s why I love this daily devotional for kids Bedtime Devotions With Jesus, by Johnny Hunt. It includes devotions written by pastors and church leaders from all over.

But, don’t let the title fool you, these devotions can be read in just a few short minutes anytime, anywhere. The simplistic style is perfect for those with hectic schedules. Plus it’s written in a way that makes it fun and easy for kids to understand.

The devotional is 52 weeks long and contains one devotion for each day of the week except for Saturday and Sunday. They are grouped together making one devotion for entire weekend. Gotta love that right!?  Each devotion has a short and simple paragraph about the verse, a prayer to say with the kids, and a bottom line.

This devotional would be great to read to children ages two to five. Six and seven year old children may enjoy reading it themselves depending on their reading skills.

If my kids were still little I would definitely read this to them. It’s a great way to pour the lessons from God’s word into kids without taking up too much time.

Remember to start small!
