Bible Verses To Help Reign in Our Fearful, Anxious, & Worrisome Thoughts

God's Word is a powerful Weapon to have by your side.

Don’t Get Caught Unprepared In A Snowstorm

Most of us wouldn’t dare to walk into a snowstorm without a coat. We know that without the proper attire to battle the cold we would likely freeze to death. Or at the very least, we could end up with frostbite in some interesting places.

Whether we are facing a snow storm or our negative emotions, the proper attire and tools are necessary for battle. A good soldier never goes into battle unprepared. His armor is on, and his weapon is always by his side. He knows that without their protection, he probably wouldn’t survive.

We Must Be Ready

Like the soldier, we too need to make sure we are ready for battle. Scripture tells us that God’s word is a powerful weapon. In fact, Hebrews 4:12 refers to it as a two-edged sword. One that is sharp enough to slice through any negative emotion we might be experiencing. And like the soldier, we need to have our armor on and our weapon by our side, ready to use. (Ephesians 6:11)

Tweet this- God’s word is a powerful weapon to have by your side.

We don’t want to do battle without the word of God by our side. The best way to be ready to use it is to memorize it. But with our schedules already busting at the seems, this can be hard to do.

What do we do when negative emotions start to surface?

Having our bible close is vital, but looking up the right verse can take time. If you are already anxious, fearful or worried, flipping through all those pages can be frustrating. Highlighting and marking your place in the Bible can help us locate them faster, but I’ve found that writing down or printing the verses out and plastering them all over the house has helped me the most.

Having the scriptures readily available, helped me reign in my negative emotions when they began to surface. Whenever I’d feel them bubbling up, I would walk over to where I had posted the scriptures and read them. Having God’s word conveniently accessible helped me overcome my less than desirable emotions. And as an added bonus,  I was able to memorize the verses over time, which helped me even more!

To save you time, and to help make you battle ready, I have put together a sampling of scriptures that have helped me battle my own negative emotions. I encourage you to look them up, write them out and put them up around the house.

When we are afraid God’s word says:

  •  Joshua 1:9 {NIV}
  • 1 Timothy 1:7 {ESV}
  • Psalm 23:4 {ESV}

When we are anxious or worried God’s word says:

  •  Philippians 4:6-7 {NIV}
  •  1 Peter 5:7 {NIV}
  • Matthew 6:25-26 {NIV}

When we feel alone God’s word says:

  •  Isaiah 41:10 {NIV}
  •  Joshua 1:5 {ESV}
  •  Romans 8:38-39 {NIV}

When we feel overwhelmed God’s word says:
