When you’re feeling frustrated in your calling

MTAB-pinFor as long as I can remember, I have had a stirring deep within me to write and share God’s word. After years of making excuses as to why I wasn’t qualified, I finally did something about it and dipped my toes into the blogging world.  It didn’t take long to realize I had no idea what I was doing—I needed all the help and guidance I could get! I would spend hours researching things on the internet about how to blog successfully. I joined blogging groups, took a couple of writing classes, and attended big conferences. Like a sponge, I soaked up every bit of information I could and squeezed it out into my blog.

All of this information was good and useful. But the truth is, my mind was spinning and I was getting nowhere fast. I was overwhelmed by the information and frustrated with the results. Discouragement began to settle in my heart and I considered giving up the writing thing altogether.

I was unsure of what to do. I needed wisdom; the kind only God can give. So I grabbed my bible and sought the Lord. And after a lot of prayer—and tears—I felt God leading me to take a break from blogging. I couldn’t understand why God was nudging me to do this. But I trusted that He had a plan, so I obediently rested from blogging for a while.

Gaining perspective on what’s important will help us let go of what isn’t. –Tweet this!

God is good! He did have a plan! During my break, I just so happened to win a free coaching session with Christa Hutchins from Do A New Thing. It was such a blessing from the Lord! Christa truly has the heart to help others succeed in their callings and ministries. Our coaching session lead to me taking her More Than A Blog Master Ministry Plan Course. Taking this course was and still is one of the best decisions I have ever made for my writing ministry. It helped me gain perspective on what was important so I could let go of what wasn’t. I walked away knowing my next steps and felt like I had a better sense of direction and purpose for my blog. I couldn’t wait to start blogging again!

Why am I telling you all of this? Because I am passionate about sharing what I have learned with others. I’ve learned that we need to help and encourage each other to grow in our callings. One of the ways we can do this is by passing on what we have learned. Christa’s course helped me, and I believe it could help you as well. By taking her course you can “have a clear vision of God’s purpose for your ministry or business, develop a growth plan that is consistent with your values and character, create a framework to confidently evaluate the decisions you make and direction you take every day and become the leader you and your team need you to be (even if your “team” is just you!)

UPDATE! The next More than A Blog Master Plan Course starts May 1, 2017! Registration is open! Visit the More Than A Blog Master Ministry Plan Course page for complete details.

great article Kelly. That’s exactly why I just started a new blog https://seniorsatlarge.com
I quit my first blog but now I feel like God wants me to share what I’m learning as a lone senior with other lone seniors. So far I’ve had a good response. It’a all in God’s good timing and the leading of His Spirit.

Thanks for sharing, Kelly! I am a new subscriber and have enjoyed your encouragement and wisdom from the Lord! Your blog is definitely a ministry, one that is impacting women around the globe. Glad you found new inspiration and strength through this course! May the Lord continue to bless your blog!

I started blogging in February 2015, two or three things, a Jesus picture, then I did the 31 Day October Writing Challenge with Crystal Stine, the Lord inspired Searching For the Prince of Peace, and fast forward to now, I have over 700 posts. I don’t know a lot about computers but I do a couple of weekly link ups. I too am taking a little time off from things in Sep. to join Jaime Roraubaugh at In His Prescence, 9/12 for a 21 day fast leading to Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year 5777. We all need to rest in Him, hmmmm, maybe my October Challenge. Be blessed Kelly.
