The Power Of A Joyful Heart Series Wrap Up

A devotional series about finding your joy.

Where does your Joy Come from?

“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.”  Habakkuk 3:17-18 [NIV]

All through out this series I was challenged to reflect on this question: What am I seeking fulfillment from?

Is it…

Possessions?

From things going my way?

Social status?

The people around me?

Finances?

“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”  2 Corinthians 4:18 [NIV]

As I pondered these questions I was reminded that all of these things will come and go; they only are temporary. If I depend on them to fulfill me, I will never be satisfied. To truly find joy, I must seek it from eternal things.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 [NIV]

God loved us enough to send us a savior and that savior loved us enough to take our place on the cross so that we could have eternal life with Him—and that is reason enough to rejoice!

Instead of looking to worldly things to fill us, let’s remember to seek the only thing that can truly satisfy us—Jesus Christ. Only He can fill us with a joy that’s everlasting.

Thanks for joining me! ~Kelly

I love how you sum it up: “To truly find joy, I must seek it from eternal things.” It is so easy to look elsewhere but true, lasting joy has to be based on God rather than our circumstances.
