Book Review of Released & a Giveaway

A book review..

What do we do when fear, worry, and anxiety grab hold of us? How do we overcome it?

As Sherri Rhea Ownby mentions in her book, Released, it’s not a battle we can win on our own—we will need to seek God’s help and trust in Him to lead us to victory.

In her book, Sherri tells us of her own families battle with anxiety and fear. When Sherri’s son Eli was just a young boy, he suffered through intense periods of fear and anxiety. Readers will go on a journey with Sherri as she shares details about her son’s battle, their dependence on God as they trecked through that difficult time, and finally the miracle of Eli’s release.

Say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, and do not fear, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you.” Isaiah 35:4 NLT

Sherri’s faith is refreshing! At every turn of the page, she leads us to seek God and to put our trust in Him again and again. She reminds us that God can save us—and our loved ones—from the clutches of anxiety, fear, and worry. Her words beckon us to remember that God doesn’t leave us alone to fend for ourselves—He is right there with us in the middle of whatever it is we’re trying to overcome. Even if it doesn’t seem like God is going to help us win the battle, we must rest in the promise that He will deliver us–maybe not instantaneously but eventually at the most perfectly ordained time He will rescue us!

Book Review of Released by Sherry Rhea Ownby

My favorite quote from Sherri’s book is this, “When fear rules your life, safety becomes your God. And when safety becomes your God, you seek a risk-free life.”

At times I have allowed my fears to hold me back from doing the things God calls me to do. As someone who has dealt with the debilitating effects of anxiety, fear, and worries herself, I was challenged to ask myself an important question: I’m allowing an unhealthy fear to control me or am I letting the power of Christ to guide me? In other words, am I putting my comfort above what God wants me to do?

Sherri goes on to say that “the enemy (Satan) is threatened anytime we proclaim the good news of the gospel.” The enemy is sneaky, and he is watching and waiting for an opportunity to pounce. He knows our that our fears can stop us in our tracks. It’s no wonder the enemy will use fear to prevent us from doing things the Lord calls us to do—things that will further Gods kingdom and bring him glory. When fear rises within us, we need to remember that we belong to Christ and he will help us overcome any force we face on this earth (1 Corinth. 3:23; Hebrews 13:6).

After reading Released, it’s clear that Sherri Rhea Ownby wants her families story to encourage those who are going through something similar. Her families story gives readers an intimate portrayal of the love God has for His children. It’s an incredible testimony of God’s goodness, faithfulness, and greatness. Whether someone is personally battling fear and anxiety or knows someone who is I believe Sherri’s book will encourage and empower readers as it points them towards Jesus—our great Deliverer & Savior.  This book is sure to remind all who read it that there is hope.

This sounds like a great book, Kelly–praise God that we can live amazing lives of uninhibited freedom when we surrender our fears to the Lord! Thanks for linking with #BVN 🙂

Yes! It’s a daily struggle. Did I make the right decision? Is this right for my family? Some days are harder than others to let go and let God handle it.

I have seen it stop believers in their tracks, and worse are those who call it down on you, or say to get over it. I make sure to tell children angels are with them and Jesus, but that is true of adults as well. I write a blog but was afraid of computers,I had this fear instilled in me, I still don’t know a lot of technical stuff but I could not share Jesus with as many people. Only His perfect love casts out fear, we can’t do it without Him. I even focused too much on it, resting in His love is better. Sounds like a wonderful book.
