“You might have to settle on a house you don’t like,” he said.
His words sparked worry in my heart, and I couldn’t help but wonder if there was truth to his words?
We had already sold our current home and had to be out in three weeks. The pressure to find another place in such a short time for our family to live in was overwhelming.
The real estate market was crazy. Houses were going fast, and most were selling over their listed asking price. My husband and I had already made an offer on a house we loved and lost it in a bidding war. After losing that home, we had difficulty finding another place.
What if we couldn’t find another home that suited us? Or worse–what if we didn’t find a house at all?
When Fear Of The Unknown Threatens To Crush Our Hopes, We Can Trust That God Is With Us.
It’s hard to trust something we don’t understand. And not knowing what lies in our future can be frightening.
When fear of the unknown threatens to crush our hopes, we can rely on God. Joshua 1:9 says, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 (NIV). God is faithful, and we can trust Him to be with us during our hardships. We can confidently put our hope in him, for God is good to place our feet on stable ground and guide our steps. (Psalm 40:2)
Although the housing market was unpredictable, I could choose to stand firm on the truth that God was with our family as we walked through this uncertain season. God had a place for our family. The road may be long and bumpy getting there, but I could trust God to be with us every step of the way and lead us to where we’re supposed to be.
God is Faithful
A few weeks later, we did find a place for our family to live. God faithfully walked us through a stressful time and led us exactly where we were supposed to be. The house is nothing like we expected; the size, style, and location are not what we were looking for, and there were some ups and downs along the way, but it has turned out to be a blessing for us in ways we never imagined.
Is your heart overwhelmed by your present circumstances? Whatever troubling season or situation you find yourself in, I encourage you to seek the one who is in control; hold on to God’s goodness and trust in his faithfulness.
