Pursuing the Fruit of Peace

What is the fruit of peace? A study on the fruits of the spirit. Romans 5:1-2

What is Peace?

When we think about peace most of us would probably gravitate towards the belief that peace is either the absence of conflict or a sense of calmness in our lives—which isn’t wrong.  An individual walking in the Fruit of Peace would do their best to live at peace with others and seeks reconciliation with everyone ( Rom 12:18; Matt 5:23-24 ). If at all possible we should make it a priority to pursue peace with everyone. This includes God, our spouses, our friends, our families, our enemies, and even ourselves.

Another evident attribute of those walking in the fruit of peace is that they confidently enjoy the peace of God. We receive this peace when we trust and accept Christ as our Lord and Savior (Romans 5:1-2; 5:10). Dr. Charles Stanley explains more about this in a devotion on Christianity.com. I encourage you to read more about it here. It’s really good!

“Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.” Romans 14:19 NIV

As we take a look at the fruit of peace over the next two weeks we’ll be focusing on pursuing peace with others.

Do you ever wonder if there’s a peaceful way to handle conflict? Next week guest blogger Kristine Brown encourages us to pursue unity with others and take the road that leads to peace.

I’m looking forward to learning more about the fruit of peace with you. Thank you for joining me today. ~Kelly

This is my first time here. I just broke up with my boyfriend. He called himself a Christian but didn’t act like one.I was in a sinful relationship and God told me to get out.I feel so good that I obeyed God. I feel free and at peace. I enjoyed reading this post. I believe God lead me here to read this post because I needed it today.
Thank you & God Bless ☺

Hi Sue! Thank you for reaching out to me. Disobedience has a way of stealing our peace doesn’t it? I’m sorry to hear about the break-up. Breakups are never easy. But I’m glad to hear you that you obeyed the Lord and now feel free and at peace. I pray you always find joy and peace in following the Lord. “Blessed is everyone who fears the LORD, who walks in his ways!” Psalm 128:1 ESV
